Voting Policy

Following our meeting on Tuesday 12/1 we will hold officer elections for the 2016 term.

In order to participate in voting you MUST be listed as a member of EWB-WSU on OrgSync AND EWB-USA!

If you are not listed as a member of EWB-WSU on OrgSync and EWB-USA you can become a member of both for FREE! (instructions below) At this time, voting must take place in person as described in the constitution.

Membership Instructions:

Part 1: Join on Org-Sync.

1) Go to: www.orgsync.com

2) Sign in with your log in information. (Not on orgsync? Make an account by going to “sign up”)

a. Choose your community as Wright State University

b. Sign in with your WSU campus ID (i.e. your wings user name and password)

3) Search for “Engineers without Borders”

4) Click Join!

Your membership will be approved by one of the chapter administrators.

Part 2: Join on EWB-USA.

1) Go to www.ewb-usa.org

2) Click on “MEMBER SIGN-IN”

3) Create a new account

a. ONLY USE YOUR WRIGHT STATE UNIVERSITY EMAIL ADDRESS!

4) Fill out the appropriate information

Part 3: Get Connected. Get Involved. Make a difference.

1) Come to meetings

2) Go to our monthly community outreach projects

3) Want more leadership? Join a committee!

4) Help plan socials and fundraising events!

Duties and Responsibilities:
President:
·         Set chapter objectives and goals for the upcoming year.
·         Manage chapter actives and facilitate chapter meetings.
·         Maintain communication with EWB-USA HQ as well as the State Representative by reporting on chapter activities, changes and progress.
·         Disseminate information from EWB-USA to chapter members.
·         Ensure EWB-USA is represented professionally in conduct, communication, and at events.
·         Maintain relations with the university and faculty advisor
Vice-President:
·         Assume the responsibilities of the President in his/hers absence.
·         Manage internal chapter relations.
·         Ensure that all chapter programs are operating in accordance with EWB-USA policies and procedures.
·         Supervise cost, scope and schedule for each project is within acceptable tolerances.
Secretary:
·         Coordinate with the President on the agenda for all chapter meetings.
·         Record and distribute minutes from chapter meetings.
·         Update and generate external chapter communications such as posters, brochure, website, newsletter within EWB-USA branding guidelines.
Treasurer:
·         Plan short and long-term finance goals for the chapter’s budget.
·         Advise chapter on the financial status on a monthly basis.
·         Maintain compliance with EWB-USA financial policies.

·         Reconcile monthly financial reports with chapter records.

EWB Construction Day

We had a great time at the Cincinnati professional chapters Engineers Without Borders construction field day!

We had the opportunity to learn all kinds of new skills like...

  3. Water Pipe Installation 
  4. Water Quality Testing

Meeting Minutes for 9/23/15 General Meeting

Hello all! The following was discussed in the general EWB-WSU meeting 9/23/2015, 7:02 pm-8:10 pm. Please contact Secretary Mark Cargill (cargill.3@wright.edu) for more information unless otherwise stated. A copy of the power point presentation given in the meeting can be found here.

  1. Pre Meeting Discussion:
    1. How do we increase membership and member involvement?
      1. In class EWB announcements:
        1. List of teachers and class schedule 
        2. "we want your ideas for projects and plans with EWB"
        3. klingbeil (help getting us into other classes), tritschler, kender, Reynolds, Iona Pavel(chemistry, ritucci, physics 1, calculus 1-2, Rachel aga(gen Chem2)
        4. Search class schedule to find better times for us
      2. Make personal connections
        1. personal emails to those that seem interested
      3. Distribute more information, have a more effective presence
        1. pamphlets

        1. Discussed the updates on the 501 application from the community
        2. Community wants to focus on roads and paths of transportation

      2. Construction training was held over the past weekend, Emily Diller and Emily Millar attended the concrete session and are brainstorming a mini session at WSU

End of Semester meeting tonight!



Hello hello to you all!

The semester is finally coming to a close, the weather is warming up and EWB has just one final meeting for the 2015 Spring Semester!

We hope to see all of your bright and shining faces this Thursday in Russ (4th floor Tait Conference room) at 7:00pm! We will be briefly discussing a few events from the semester and a few of our summer plans!

Lastly there will be FREE EUCHRE AND SNACKS directly after the EWB meeting in the Joshi atrium! All are welcome to attend, please bring your friends and have some fun before finals week with us!

Habitat for Humanity Build this Saturday!

Hi All!

We are pleased to announce that we have a Habitat for Humanity Team build on Saturday, March 14th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm!

Location: 180 N. Diana Lane, Fairborn, Ohio

The day is split into two shifts, morning and afternoon. For each shift we can have a max of 8 volunteer slots. Please fill out the registration for this event under the "Get Involved" tab, and follow the instructions bellow with Dayton Habitat for Humanity. Thanks!

To register as a volunteer go to www.daytonhabitat.volunteerhub.com:
  • Click the Sign In link on the top right corner of the page.     
  • Click the Register button.  Complete the registration form. *Please note that if you do not complete all of the required fields, your registration will not be processed. 
Be sure to associate yourself with WSU  EWB by checking the box to the left on the group membership portion of the registration. The group is located under “WSU EWB” 
  • Click the Save and Continue button. If you do this and it takes you back to the registration form, scroll to the top of the page and look for the instruction in red. Hit save and continue again to submit your registration.       
  • Congratulations! You are now registered! Sign in using your new username and password!

  • Scroll down to the date your group has reserved for volunteering.

Habitat for Humanity HabiTEAM Build Scheduled for March 14th, 2015

EWB Outing for January 23, 2015


All,

With the recent trend of warm weather we have decided to postpone our skiing/snowboarding outing until February where we will hopefully have some snow and colder weather. So, this Friday (1/23) we will be going bowling instead! We are going to Bowl 10 in Fairborn from 9-11 pm for Cosmic Bowling! This will cost $10 per person and we are meeting in the Russ atrium (1st floor) to carpool and are departing at 8:30 pm. Feel free to bring a friend and please let us know if you are planning on attending so we can get an idea of how many drivers we will need.
